I am a Chinese-Swiss painter who lives and works in Basel. My training in oil painting in Beijing and at the École supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, as well as my early work in theater, have shaped my understanding of painting as a spatial and narrative practice. The staging of figures, space, and atmosphere remains a central component of my work to this day.

The starting point for my work is the experience of a family whose history was shaped by the Chinese Cultural Revolution. However, I am not interested in depicting historical events, but rather in the question of how history becomes inscribed in individual and collective memory.

My painting navigates the space between personal experience and cultural heritage, between visibility and absence, past and present. In multi-layered pictorial spaces, autobiographical fragments and historical resonances overlap, so that linear narratives give way to open, associative structures.

I understand painting as a space in which autobiographical experience and collective history resonate with one another. Starting from personal memories, I explore the intertwining of individual experience and collective memory, as well as the traces the past leaves in both.
